Native American Cultural Awareness: Beyond Reservations
May 11, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
FREENative American Cultural Awareness: Beyond Reservations.
OVERVIEW:
Native American cultural awareness includes being conscious of organizational culture and its implications for policy, practice, teaching, research, and community engagement.
Native American people are in a unique position in the world, considering their history since pre-colonization until present day. With several attempts at cultural genocide through assimilation, forced relocation, language loss, stolen lands, the reservation system, and overall identity loss, Native Americans live in “two worlds” and struggle to take back their identities.
Native American Cultural Awareness will discuss:
- Understanding Native Americans struggle with identity
- How you can help Native American culture
- Communication with Native Americans
- Native American health and wellness challenges
- Native American bias busters
Native American Cultural Awareness will help with knowledge and attitudes towards Native Americans. It encourages and assists participants to develop a knowledge and awareness of Native American cultural identity in relation to colleagues, patients, clients and customers.
